A bomb exploded at a mosque in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province during Friday prayers, injuring four worshippers, including a senior cleric. The District Police Officer, Asif Bahader, confirmed that an improvised explosive device (IED) was responsible for the blast at Maulana Abdul Aziz Mosque in South Waziristan.
Rescue teams quickly arrived on the scene to transport the injured to the district hospital in Wana. The police have commenced collecting evidence as part of their ongoing investigation into the attack. Such incidents have previously targeted mosques, especially during Friday prayers, in this volatile region.
This latest incident follows a deadly attack last month where a suicide bomber killed six people, including another cleric, and injured 15 at a seminary in the province. The recurring nature of these attacks highlights the persistent threat facing religious gatherings in the area.
