Missile Strike Amid Ceasefire Erupts in Poltava
During a supposed ceasefire to commemorate World War Two's end, Russian forces launched a missile in Ukraine's Poltava region, damaging private homes. No casualties occurred as air defense successfully intercepted the missile. The attack highlights ongoing tensions despite ceremonial peace gestures.
In a sudden breach of Moscow's declared ceasefire, Russian forces launched a missile into central Ukraine's Poltava region on Thursday. The attack coincides with a period meant to honor the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War Two.
Governor Volodymyr Kohut, leading the region's military administration, reported via Telegram that Ukraine's air defense units successfully intercepted the missile deployed over the Myrhorod district.
While the interception minimized physical damage, roofs of private homes suffered notably. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, underscoring the ongoing volatility and threat despite Moscow's temporary peace halt.
