The border areas of Punjab witnessed a return to normalcy Monday as bustling markets contrasted with the continued closure of schools and colleges in some districts. This reprieve comes in the wake of an agreement between New Delhi and Islamabad to cease hostilities, halting four days of intense military strikes.
Authorities assured citizens that the situation is under control, advising them to refrain from paying heed to rumors and to remain calm. While schools in Ferozepur, Fazilka, Pathankot, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, and Gurdaspur districts remained shut, colleges in Pathankot and Gurdaspur transitioned to online classes.
Residents are cautiously optimistic, with trains resuming service after prior cancellations, and life seemingly returning to normal despite a tense recent past marked by the threat of drone attacks and military tension.
