In a significant development, six individuals have been detained by authorities in connection with an alleged illegal cow slaughter incident near Kunjal Junction, Brahmavar Taluk, Karnataka. The police disclosed this information on Monday as they continue to probe the unsettling event.
On the night of June 28, the severed head of a cow was discovered by locals, abandoned on the roadway near an autorickshaw stand in Aroor village, drawing immediate concern and launching a police investigation. Preliminary findings suggest the animal was slaughtered elsewhere and the remains discarded by unidentified individuals.
Law enforcement has taken swift action, registering a case under the Karnataka Prevention of Cow Slaughter and Cattle Preservation Act and relevant theft sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Four special police teams have been mobilized, leading to the apprehension of Ram, Prasad, Naveen, Keshava Naik, Sandesh, and Rajesh. One suspect remains at large as the investigation progresses.
