In a significant move, the Maharashtra government has issued stringent social media guidelines for its employees, prohibiting criticism of current or past state policies. The new regulations mandate the separation of personal and official accounts, while also banning the use of certain applications.
The Government Resolution further stipulates that employees found violating these norms will face action under the Maharashtra Civil Service Conduct Rules 1979. Employees are advised to use social media wisely, only promoting their contributions without indulging in self-glorification.
The guidelines apply to a broad range of personnel, including state officers, those with local bodies, contract staffers, and public sector employees. These measures aim to maintain the integrity of official communications and curb the misuse of social platforms.
