Tihar jail authorities have expressed opposition to an application filed by Tahawwur Hussain Rana, accused in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, seeking a phone conversation with his family.
During an in-chamber proceeding, the opposition was presented before special judge Chander Jit Singh. The case, involving Rana who is closely associated with 26/11 conspirator David Coleman Headley, was set for a hearing on August 5, according to sources.
Rana was extradited from the US after their Supreme Court dismissed his plea. On November 26, 2008, 10 Pakistani terrorists launched attacks in Mumbai, lasting nearly 60 hours and killing 166 people in various locations.
