In a significant stride towards combating child labour and trafficking, Operation Muskaan-XI rescued 7,678 children across Telangana during July. The Ministry of Home Affairs' initiative saw participation from multiple agencies, highlighting the critical need for collaborative efforts in addressing these issues.
The operation covered extensive ground, including railway and bus stations, religious sites, and various workplaces such as brick kilns, mechanic shops, and tea stalls. According to Charu Sinha, Additional Director General of Police, Women Safety Wing, children from 12 states and four from Nepal were successfully rescued.
Authorities registered 1,713 FIRs and arrested 1,718 suspects as part of the crackdown. In a promising outcome, 6,593 rescued children were reunited with their families, while 1,049 were provided shelter in rescue homes, reinforcing the commitment to safeguard the vulnerable youth.
