Bihar's Revised Voter Rolls Reveal Stark Contrasts

The draft electoral rolls in Bihar reveal a stark difference in voter numbers among districts. Patna leads with over 46 lakh voters, while Sheohar, on the India-Nepal border, has less than 3 lakh. Around 65 lakh enumeration forms were excluded, reducing registered voters from 7.9 crore to 7.24 crore.

Bihar's recent draft electoral rolls highlight a significant variation in voter distribution among its districts. Patna District tops the list with an impressive 46,51,694 voters, whereas Sheohar lags behind with just 2,95,929 registered electors.

The Election Commission, conducting a Special Intensive Revision (SIR), has identified these figures. Other notable districts include Purvi Champaran, Muzaffarpur, and Madhubani, each boasting over 30 lakh voters.

Interestingly, over 65 lakh enumeration forms were not incorporated into the draft rolls, resulting in a decrease in the total registered voter count from approximately 7.9 crore to a current 7.24 crore, just ahead of the approaching assembly polls.
