Fugitive Caught: 21 Years on the Run After Murder
After over two decades on the run, a man accused of brutally murdering his wife with a brick in 2004 has been apprehended in Lucknow. Veerpal, who assumed a new identity, avoided capture until recently. He was declared a Proclaimed Offender in 2005 and had started a new family while in hiding.

In a dramatic turn of events, a 60-year-old fugitive was arrested in Lucknow after evading law enforcement for more than two decades. Accused of the 2004 murder of his wife in Delhi, the man had assumed a new identity and begun a new life.
Veerpal, alias Maiju, was on the run after allegedly killing his wife with a brick. Declared a Proclaimed Offender in 2005, he managed to start fresh under the alias Vijay, even remarrying and fathering three daughters.
The breakthrough came when police officers, armed with new evidence, tracked him down. Veerpal has confessed to the crime, bringing closure to a case that lingered unresolved for 21 years.
