Supreme Court Dismisses Plea to Revive FIR in Mohan Delkar Suicide Case
The Supreme Court upheld the Bombay High Court's decision to quash an FIR against nine people accused of abetting the suicide of former MP Mohan Delkar. Delkar's son, Abhinav, had sought to revive the charges following his father's death in 2021. The bench concluded insufficient evidence exists.

The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a plea to resurrect an FIR against nine individuals, including Praful Khoda Patel, linked to the alleged suicide of former MP Mohan Delkar in 2021.
Headed by Chief Justice B.R. Gavai, the bench rejected the appeal filed by Abhinav Delkar, upholding the Bombay High Court's prior decision to quash the charges. The court noted insufficient evidence in Delkar's purported 30-page suicide note justified an abetment charge.
Mohan Delkar, a revered parliamentarian, was found dead in Mumbai in 2021, allegedly driven to suicide by harassment. The accused countered the allegations, leading the high court to annul the FIR last year. The Supreme Court ruling underscores the challenges in prosecuting abetment cases.
