A 28-year-old man named Vairamuthu was reportedly killed in a suspected honor killing in Tamil Nadu, as confirmed by police sources. Vairamuthu had been in a relationship with Malini, whose family was opposed to their union due to caste differences.
According to CPI(M) State Secretary P Shanmugam, Malini's mother influenced her sons to commit the murder. Shanmugam criticized the Tamil Nadu police for their lack of action and demanded strong measures against those responsible for the crime.
Shanmugam also called for compensation for Vairamuthu's family and a government job for one of its members, while advocating for a special law to prevent further honor killings in the region.
