TikTok Faces Suspension in Indonesia Over Data Compliance Issues
Indonesia has suspended TikTok's registration due to incomplete data submission related to its live stream feature. The suspension theoretically affects over 100 million users. TikTok is cooperating with the government to resolve the issue, which arose amid protests and allegations of illegal streaming operations.
Indonesia has temporarily suspended TikTok's registration to provide electronic systems, citing the company's failure to fully disclose data associated with its live streaming feature. This action comes as the app faces scrutiny amid national protests.
Despite the suspension, TikTok remains accessible in Indonesia, where it boasts over 100 million users. The communications and digital ministry flagged accounts linked to online gambling via TikTok's live stream during recent unrest over political issues.
The ministry requested TikTok's traffic, streaming, and monetization data, but officials say the company, owned by ByteDance, failed to comply completely. TikTok claims it is working with authorities to address the concerns and uphold regional laws.
