Tragedy struck in northern Kerala on Tuesday when lightning killed two migrant workers and injured another as they made their way to a quarry. The incident unfolded between 1.30 pm and 1.45 pm, according to local police, as the men returned to work after lunch.
The victims, identified as Jose from Assam and Rajesh from Odisha, were killed instantly by the lightning strike. A third worker, Gautham, also from Assam, is currently undergoing treatment at Pariyaram Medical College Hospital. Authorities noted that the weather was clear with no rain at the time of the incident.
This unfortunate event highlights the unpredictable nature of lightning storms and their occasionally fatal consequences, emphasizing the need for preventive measures and education for outdoor workers in the region.
