In a significant breakthrough, Punjab Police on Tuesday announced they had captured two suspected terror operatives in Amritsar. The operation led to the seizure of a rocket-propelled grenade, which was allegedly meant for a targeted terror strike.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav revealed that the arrests followed an intelligence-driven operation by Amritsar Rural Police in collaboration with central agencies. The suspects, identified as Mehakdeep Singh, also known as Mehak, and Aditya, also referred to as Adhi, were apprehended with the weapon.

Initial findings indicate the accused were in communication with an ISI operative from Pakistan and an individual named Harpreet Singh, currently imprisoned in Ferozepur. A First Information Report registered at Gharinda Police Station in Amritsar has initiated a deeper probe to unravel the broader network, while Punjab Police remains focused on combating transnational terrorism supported by Pakistan's ISI.
