A multi-force operation led to the destruction of around 10 tonnes of cannabis plants in Meghalaya's East Khasi Hills district, officials announced on Tuesday.
The effort, involving district police, forest officials, and the anti-narcotics task force, was conducted at Laitlulong village in the Sohiong area, where the team uprooted cannabis over five hectares.
The operation underscores a zero-tolerance stance against drug crimes, aiming to safeguard society from narcotic threats. Authorities emphasized that cannabis cultivation constitutes a punishable offense under the NDPS Act.
