Mumbai Police Busts Multi-Crore Postal Stamp Forgery Racket

Mumbai Police have arrested three individuals allegedly involved in a postal stamp forgery racket that was operating out of Delhi and Bihar, an official revealed on Tuesday.

The accused, identified as Shamshuddin Ahmed, Shahid Raza, and Rakesh Bind, were apprehended following a Rs 8 crore suspicious transaction linked to their bank accounts. Ahmed and Raza were arrested in Delhi and Bihar, respectively, while Bind was detained in the city.

The discovery of the forgery operation came after a complaint was lodged with the Chief Post Master General of Mumbai regarding the use of counterfeit stamps in bulk letter bookings. The case is under investigation under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, with charges related to counterfeiting government stamps and currency-notes.
