The Chief Minister's call comes amid criticism from the Opposition, with BJP leaders accusing the government of avoiding elections due to previous unmet promises. Sukhu countered these allegations, stressing the urgent need for relief efforts following severe monsoon damages.
Himachal Pradesh is preparing for elections to over 3,500 gram panchayats, scheduled from December 2025 to January 2026. The state's election commission has started electoral roll preparations, even as widespread infrastructure damage from recent monsoon rains raises concerns.
