CPI(M) Leader Among Accused in Kerala Spirit Smuggling Case

A local CPI(M) leader is implicated in smuggling 1,054 litres of spirit in Kerala. Authorities arrested four individuals while two, including the politician, remain at large. The illegal transport was intended for mixing with liquor. A police investigation is underway to locate the absconders.

A local CPI(M) leader is among six individuals implicated in an illegal spirit smuggling operation in Kerala. Police reported seizing 1,054 litres of spirit from the north Kerala district on Monday.

An official from the Meenakshipuram police station stated that four arrests have been made. However, two accused, including the CPI(M) leader, are still eluding capture. The seizure prompted legal action under the Kerala Abkari Act.

Police investigations are ongoing as they attempt to locate the absentees. The spirit was allegedly transported in 36 cans via a Bolero pickup and stored to mix with liquor for profit.
