Madavi Hidma, a notorious Maoist commander, was killed by Indian security forces, marking a significant milestone in the fight against Left-wing extremism. His elimination came 12 days ahead of the November 30 deadline set by Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his capture.

The operation took place in the dense forests of Pullagandi, a strategic location at the intersection of three states: Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana. Hidma was a significant figure in Naxalite operations, leading a battalion of the People's Liberation Guerrilla Army and serving as the only tribal member on the Maoist Central Committee.

Hidma's direct involvement in over 26 major Naxal attacks made him one of India's most feared insurgent leaders. Officials are optimistic that the current momentum in anti-Naxal operations could see the Maoist problem eradicated before the set deadline in March 2026.
