Odisha Police Force Strengthens Safeguards for Women Officers
Odisha has seen 18 harassment cases involving women police officers from 2023 to 2025. The state has taken strong action, arresting 62 suspects. Measures include forming Internal Complaints Committees, CCTV coverage, gender sensitisation training, and providing maternity benefits to ensure women's safety and rights in the workplace.

Odisha has reported a total of 18 harassment cases involving women officers within its police force from 2023 to September 2025, according to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. He addressed the issue in the state Assembly this Monday.
The Chief Minister stressed that rigorous legal actions have been executed against 62 individuals involved in these incidents. Details emerged that the cases were logged in various districts, including Balasore, Bhubaneswar, and Cuttack, among others.
Majhi detailed initiatives like the mandatory formation of Internal Complaints Committees at workplaces, routine staff briefing sessions on conduct regulations, installation of CCTV systems, and gender sensitisation training. He highlighted additional measures such as maternity and childcare benefits and the establishment of grievance redressal systems.
