A Delhi court has ordered 22-year-old Ashif, connected to a Pakistan-backed terror module, into a five-day police custody. The group is accused of orchestrating a grenade attack in Gurdaspur, Punjab, on November 25, allegedly directed by gangster-turned-terrorist Shahzad Bhatti.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Shriya Agarwal authorized the custody after the Delhi Police Special Cell argued for additional time to probe Ashif's devices and his ties to Bhatti. It is reported that Ashif communicated through a virtual number, necessitating further investigation in Pune.
Alongside Ashif, 19-year-olds Hargunpreet Singh and Vikas Prajapati are also implicated in the module. The accused allegedly carried out Bhatti's orders via social media networks, soliciting recruits through promises of money and detailed instructions, as revealed in police statements.
