In an alarming escalation of regional tensions, Chinese fighter jets pointed their fire-control radar at Japanese planes over international waters near Okinawa on Saturday, in what Japan's Defense Minister, Shinjiro Koizumi, condemned as a 'dangerous act.'
The maneuvers took place close to islands claimed by both nations, adding strain to already fraught relations following Japan's recent warnings about responding to Chinese aggression toward Taiwan.
