Opposition MPs in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday intensified demands for the central government to disburse outstanding funds to states for ongoing schemes. They advocated for ample allocation towards infrastructure, education, and various welfare activities to ensure balanced development across regions.
S. Niranjan Reddy from the YSRCP highlighted the net outgo of Rs 41,455 crore from an additional expenditure of Rs 1.32 lakh crore. Concerns over fiscal policies were echoed as MPs criticized the lack of long-term plans to alleviate fiscal burdens, particularly in the fertiliser sector.
Concerns were raised about regional disparities, with MPs from Odisha and Uttar Pradesh noting inadequate central support despite significant contributions to resources and demands for educational funds for disadvantaged communities. BJP MPs, however, praised central governance and economic management, citing successful initiatives such as Digital India.
