Kremlin Echoes Trump: Blame Zelenskiy for Delayed Ukraine Peace
The Kremlin aligned with U.S. President Trump in stating that Ukrainian President Zelenskiy, not Russia, is hindering a peace deal in Ukraine. While Moscow and Washington show willingness for talks, Ukrainian territorial disputes and past hostilities pose challenges to negotiations.
The Kremlin has supported U.S. President Donald Trump's assertion that Ukraine, rather than Russia, is obstructing a potential peace deal to end the ongoing conflict. This stance differs sharply from European allies' views, who believe Moscow is disinterested in stopping the war.
During a Reuters interview, Trump suggested that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is the reason U.S.-led negotiations have not progressed. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov expressed agreement with Trump, indicating Russia's openness to talks, while emphasizing Russia's well-known position.
Russia asserts control over parts of Ukraine, including Crimea, and demands Kyiv withdraw from contested regions. Despite Moscow's accusations against Ukraine and the diplomatic tension, the Kremlin has invited Trump's associates for further discussions.
