In a remarkable achievement, Chhattisgarh has provided over 40 lakh household tap connections under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), bringing clean drinking water to more than 32 lakh homes. This was announced by Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao during a press conference in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar.
Sao attributed the success to the effective and transparent implementation of JJM, which has markedly improved rural water accessibility since its inception. Prior to JJM, the state had only 3,19,741 household tap connections; a number that has surged under the current government, particularly in the past two years.
With aims to declare Chhattisgarh as a 'Har Ghar Jal' state, the initiative has achieved comprehensive village coverage and established stringent quality checks, including penalties and contract termination for subpar work. The focus remains on completing pending schemes and further enhancing rural water infrastructure.
