Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi oppose the new VB-G RAM G Act, alleging it undermines the MGNREGA. In a staunch opposition to the newly implemented VB-G RAM G Act, Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi argue that it significantly undermines the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). They claim that the Act converts rural work into a discretionary 'revdi' rather than a guaranteed right.
The Congress leaders have accused the central government of financial overburdening states as part of the Act's implementation. In a letter to rural communities, Kharge and Gandhi allege the government's actions amount to 'stealing' the right to work and adequate wages.
This letter forms the nucleus of the Congress's 'MGNREGA Bachao Sangram,' a nationwide campaign set to run until February 25. The initiative aims to reinstate the earlier legislation, ensuring guaranteed work, wages, and accountability for rural populations across India.
