The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has yet to engage in formal talks with the White House about preparations for the Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympics, IOC President Kirsty Coventry announced on Wednesday. Despite geopolitical tensions, the IOC's focus remains on ensuring representation from all National Olympic Committees at the Games.
President Trump, who finished his first year in office on Tuesday, has notably stirred international relations, seeking Greenland as a strategic point and preparing for a potential European trade conflict. These diplomatic challenges arise as the Los Angeles Olympics is expected to host over 10,000 athletes from more than 200 nations.
The United States, meanwhile, will soon co-host the soccer World Cup. This collaboration highlights improved relations between FIFA and the US administration, as FIFA President Gianni Infantino frequently collaborates with Trump. As the Olympics approach, these partnerships strengthen, promising increased diplomatic engagement.
