In a dramatic turn of events, Sirajul Haque, an accused in a POCSO case, managed to evade authorities just minutes before being sentenced to 23 years of imprisonment. The escape happened at the Fast Track Special Court complex in Karunagappally, leaving police in a frantic search.

Haque, a 28-year-old native of Assam, was on bail and had arrived at the court to hear his judgment. He was found guilty of abducting and sexually assaulting a minor girl, an incident that occurred two years ago in Assam. The public prosecutor reported that Haque vanished before his sentencing discussion with legal counsel could occur.

Despite immediate search efforts by police personnel at the court, Haque remains at large. A warrant has been issued for his arrest, and he faces a 23-year jail term, including a maximum of 20 years under the POCSO Act, pending his capture.
