The Congress Party has made its stance clear on women's reservation in the Lok Sabha, calling for its immediate implementation with an OBC quota. Senior Congress leader K Raju emphasized the party's unwavering demands, driven by campaigns such as women members sending postcards to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Former Congress President Sonia Gandhi originally called for this initiative during discussions on the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam. Recent party statements urge the government to convene an all-party meeting to discuss the law’s enactment using the Lok Sabha's existing strength by 2029.
With growing tensions, the Congress alleges the Modi government uses the reservation issue to push other political agendas. Meanwhile, the party targets growing support among Dalit and OBC communities, including former Bahujan Samaj Party members, to bolster its campaign strength.
