Norway Joins Pax Silica Initiative for AI Supply Security
Norway has announced its participation in Pax Silica, a U.S.-led initiative aimed at ensuring reliable AI technology supply chains. The initiative seeks to decrease dependence on China while strengthening alliances. Norway's critical mineral reserves and institutional capital are seen as valuable assets for the coalition.
In a move to bolster its AI technology supply chains, Norway will join the Pax Silica initiative, the government revealed on Tuesday. This U.S.-led coalition aims to secure reliable access to critical minerals and reduce dependence on China for AI technology.
Launched under the Trump administration, Pax Silica underscores the importance of strengthening alliances among Western nations. Norwegian Trade and Industry Minister Cecilie Myrseth suggested this collaboration could enhance Norwegian companies' technological access.
The U.S. State Department highlighted Norway's vast sovereign wealth fund and mineral reserves as strategic assets in the initiative. Norway is set to officially sign on this Wednesday, further cementing its role in this collaborative effort.
