Diplomacy on the Horizon: U.S. and Iran Near War-Ending Memorandum
The White House is reportedly close to finalizing a memorandum to end the ongoing conflict with Iran, amid paused U.S. naval operations in the Strait of Hormuz. Discussions involve a nuclear moratorium, sanctions lift, and access to the strait, with Iran seeking a fair and comprehensive agreement.
The White House is reportedly nearing an agreement to conclude hostilities with Iran, according to a U.S. media outlet. White House negotiations come after President Trump halted a recent naval operation in the key Strait of Hormuz, intending to open discussions with Iran on a nuclear moratorium and sanction relief.
The Axios report, though unconfirmed by Reuters, describes forthcoming Iranian responses to several critical issues. The agreement proposed would have Iran commit to halting nuclear enrichment, in exchange for the U.S. lifting sanctions and releasing frozen funds, with both parties easing restrictions on Hormuz strait passage.
The diplomatic efforts follow the suspension of "Project Freedom," a U.S. military initiative to ensure maritime traffic through the strait amidst ongoing strikes. Iran has effectively blocked the passage since late February, with both nations engaging in dialogue to prevent further escalation.
