The Centre has implemented a major reform by extending provisions of five state legislations to the Union Territory of Chandigarh. This strategic move aims to modernize legal frameworks, enhance transparency, and streamline governance.
The initiative involves three laws from Punjab and two from Haryana, focusing on improving ease of living and business operations in Chandigarh. By utilizing Section 87 of the Punjab Reorganisation Act, 1966, these reforms address existing legal gaps and bolster citizen protection.
Key reforms include an amended framework for property valuation, comprehensive fire safety regulations, and a modern tenancy law. These measures aim to bring clarity, reduce disputes, enhance safety standards, and ensure the efficient administration of land and property transactions.
