Tensions Rise Again: Israel Targets Hamas Leader Amid Stalled Peace Talks
Israel launched a strike targeting Hamas' military chief Izz al-Din al-Haddad in Gaza, amid ongoing deadlock in peace talks. At least three people were killed, though Haddad's fate remains unknown. Israeli officials label him responsible for numerous attacks, as violence resurges after a brief ceasefire.
In a major escalation, Israel claimed that it struck a blow to Hamas by targeting Izz al-Din al-Haddad, the military leader, in Gaza. Described as the architect of recent attacks on Israel, his fate remains uncertain, though medics reported three fatalities, fueling further unrest.
The operation marks the most significant targeting of a Hamas figure since an October ceasefire agreement, which initially brought a halt to two years of conflict. However, efforts to reach a long-term resolution have stagnated, leaving Gaza in continuing turmoil.
Israel's intensified operations in Gaza, aimed at eradicating Hamas' influence, have led to significant casualties on both sides. With Israel maintaining occupation over half of Gaza, and over 2 million Palestinians in dire conditions, tensions remain critically high.
