A Parliamentary Joint Committee engaged in discussions on this matter with various political parties in Bengaluru. The JD(S) emphasized the need for legal protections to maintain stability within coalition governments and safeguard regional parties from national parties' dominating campaigns during simultaneous elections.

According to a statement, the JD(S), led by former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, supports the bill conditionally, suggesting essential amendments.
