U.N. Urges Iran to Renew Cooperation with IAEA Amid Nuclear Site Tensions
The U.N.'s nuclear watchdog chief, Rafael Grossi, has urged Iran to resume cooperation with inspections at nuclear sites hit by U.S. and Israeli strikes. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) seeks clear data on nuclear materials, including highly enriched uranium, to ensure the safety and compliance of Iran's nuclear program.
The chief of the U.N.'s nuclear watchdog, Rafael Grossi, has called for increased Iranian engagement to resume inspections at bombed nuclear sites. Grossi seeks cooperation from Iran as the U.S. pushes for a resolution demanding Iran's compliance at the IAEA board meeting.
Despite the destruction of uranium-enrichment facilities, much highly enriched uranium persists, urging the IAEA to verify these materials. A draft resolution from the U.S. and European nations requires Iran to provide complete information regarding its nuclear activities and restore full access for inspections.
Iran, warning the board against bias, has condemned the resolution, emphasizing that accountability should not be shifted to the victim. Meanwhile, escalating tensions with Israel and the U.S. further complicate diplomatic resolutions surrounding Iran's nuclear program.
