Three held in terror funding case sent in MP ATS custody

A court on Friday remanded three men arrested in connection with an alleged terror funding racket with links to Pakistan in the custody of Madhya Pradesh Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) for five days. Balram Singh, Sunil Singh and Shubham Mishra were arrested by police in Satna district on Thursday and were handed over to the ATS which produced them before a court here.

"The court granted us their custody for five days," ATS Bhopal Superintendent Pranay Nagvanshi told PTI. The accused were in contact with handlers in Pakistan, with whom they shared "strategic information" and details of bank accounts of some people, according to the Satna Police.

The racket was spread across several states, including Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Bihar, the police said. The accused allegedly made calls to foreign countries and executed a number of suspicious transactions using different bank accounts, they said.

Balram Singh had been arrested by the ATS in February 2017 in connection with an espionage and terror-funding racket and was later released on bail.
