In a significant military maneuver, South Korea has confirmed that the United States deployed a long-range B-1B bomber over the Korean Peninsula. This marks the first precision-guided weapon bombing drill in seven years. The exercise took place on Wednesday and included joint aerial drills with both US and South Korean fighter jets.
According to South Korea’s Defence Ministry, the B-1B bomber successfully dropped Joint Direct Attack Munitions, or JDAM bombs, which are known to be precision-guided 'bunker busters.' This drill is widely interpreted as a show of force against North Korea. Tensions have been escalating due to North Korea's recent provocative actions, including the launch of balloons carrying trash towards South Korea.
This latest military activity underscores the ongoing volatility in the region and the strategic military alliances between the US and South Korea.
