The BJP's Tamil Nadu unit has issued a strong response following the circulation of a controversial video. The footage shows individuals slaying a goat with a photo of the party's state president, K Annamalai, tied around its neck. The incident's location and the uploader's identity remain unknown, and the video's authenticity has not been confirmed.
State BJP Vice-President and Party Spokesperson Narayanan Thirupathy shared the video on X, strongly condemning the act. The state BJP also reposted it on its official X handle.
Thirupathy criticized the act, stating, 'Killing a goat in the middle of the road and shouting against @annamalai_k, celebrating his (LS polls) defeat clearly shows that political parties fear the BJP's growth in Tamil Nadu. This exposes the opposition's lowest level of politics.' He also mentioned that the video featured children shouting slogans against Annamalai, calling it a highly condemnable act of instigating hate and anger among children. Thirupathy has called for strict action and the arrest of the individuals involved. In the April 19 Lok Sabha polls, the DMK-led bloc won all 39 seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, with Annamalai losing to DMK's Ganapathy P Rajkumar in Coimbatore.
