In a heated political development, Congress leaders are yet to receive invitations for Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony, slated for June 9, the party disclosed on Saturday. The Congress also asserted that Modi has lost both political and moral authority, alleging he did not secure the people's mandate in the recent Lok Sabha elections.
The ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday evening will host dignitaries and special invitees, including leaders from India's neighboring countries and the Indian Ocean Region. However, Congress leaders remain uninvited.
Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh voiced his concerns, stating, ''The person taking the oath has lost his personal, political, and moral authority. Mandate was sought in his name; he did not get it. We don't understand why this swearing-in drama is being undertaken.''
