Awadhesh Narayan Singh Takes Charge as Acting Chairman of Bihar Legislative Council

Senior BJP leader Awadhesh Narayan Singh has been appointed as the Acting Chairman of the Bihar legislative council following the resignation of Chairman Devesh Chandra Thakur. The appointment, approved by Governor Rajendra Arlekar, comes after Thakur resigned to focus on his Lok Sabha duties.

In a significant political move, senior BJP leader Awadhesh Narayan Singh was appointed as the Acting Chairman of the Bihar legislative council on Thursday. The appointment follows the resignation of Chairman Devesh Chandra Thakur, a senior JD(U) leader who recently won the Lok Sabha poll from Sitamarhi.

The announcement, detailed in a notification issued by the Vidhan Parishad secretariat, was officially approved by Governor Rajendra Arlekar. Thakur stepped down from his post and gave up his legislative council membership last week to focus on his new responsibilities in the Lok Sabha.

Awadhesh Narayan Singh, a veteran politician, had previously held the Chairman position from 2012 to 2017 and again served as Acting Chairman in 2020 until Thakur's election in 2022. Singh's extensive experience in the legislative council is expected to bring stability and continuity.
