The BJP launched a scathing attack on the ruling Congress in Karnataka this Saturday, asserting that the recent Lok Sabha election results demonstrate public disapproval of the latter's 'misrule' in just one year of governance.
With the BJP and its ally JD(S) securing 19 out of 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka, BJP state president B Y Vijayendra claimed the state remains a stronghold for the party in South India. The election results, he said, underscore the people's support for the BJP-JD(S) alliance.
While congratulating party leaders and workers at a felicitatory event for the 19 elected NDA MPs, Vijayendra highlighted the alliance's success as a reflection of the public mandate. He warned that the state must counter Congress' misrule for the next four years.
The BJP leader also pointed out that Karnataka had thrived under BJP leadership but has since suffered due to Congress' one-year governance. Despite Congress winning more seats this time, he emphasized that BJP and JD(S) lead in over 145 assembly constituencies.
Speakers at the event, including union ministers, criticized the Siddaramaiah-led state government for the recent fuel price hikes and alleged corruption in the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation.
