Shankar Ghosh Appointed BJP's New Chief Whip in West Bengal Assembly

BJP MLA Shankar Ghosh has been named the new opposition chief whip in the West Bengal assembly, succeeding Manoj Tigga. Ghosh, a first-term MLA from Siliguri, joined BJP from CPI(M) before 2021 elections and is closely associated with Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition.

In a recent announcement, BJP MLA Shankar Ghosh has been appointed as the new opposition chief whip in the West Bengal assembly, filling the vacancy created by the resignation of Manoj Tigga, who was elected as an MP from Alipurduars.

This significant move sees Ghosh, who represents the Siliguri constituency and is currently serving his first term as an MLA, stepping into the role.

Notably, Ghosh transitioned from CPI(M) to BJP ahead of the 2021 assembly elections and is known for his close relationship with Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal assembly.
