Kremlin Denies Contact After Trump Assassination Attempt
The Kremlin confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin has not contacted Donald Trump following an assassination attempt on the U.S. presidential candidate. Despite heightened security concerns, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov assured that Putin's protection measures are already adequate. The Kremlin blamed the U.S. administration for fostering a provocative atmosphere.
The Kremlin announced on Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin had not reached out to Donald Trump after the attempted assassination of the U.S. presidential candidate last weekend, and there are no plans to do so.
When questioned about potential increases in security measures for Putin, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that the Russian leader already enjoys robust protection. 'Security is already heightened for obvious reasons, regardless of individual incidents,' Peskov mentioned to reporters.
'We affirm that the head of state's security is ensured at a high level, with all necessary measures in place considering the international escalation of tensions,' he added. The Kremlin clarified on Sunday that it does not hold the U.S. administration responsible for the assassination attempt on Trump but criticized it for creating an inciting atmosphere.
Trump was shot in the ear during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania due to a significant security lapse. The attacker was killed, and authorities have yet to determine a motive. Putin has not publicly addressed the incident.
Peskov's remarks echoed sentiments from some of Trump's Republican allies, who attributed the incident to Biden. 'After multiple efforts to remove candidate Trump from the political scene through legal, prosecutorial, and political means, it was clear to observers that his life was at risk,' Peskov commented on Sunday.
