Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on the Congress on Tuesday, accusing the opposition party of historically being against backward classes.
Speaking at a 'Backward Classes Samman Sammelan' in Haryana, Shah recalled the Congress's inaction on the Kaka Kalekar Commission's recommendations in the 1950s and later, their opposition to OBC reservations as proposed by the Mandal Commission in the 1980s and 1990s.
Shah criticized the Congress for redistributing reservation benefits from backward classes to Muslims in Karnataka and pledged that such actions would not occur in Haryana under BJP governance. Expressing confidence in a BJP victory, Shah reinforced his party's commitment to OBC reservations ahead of the Haryana Assembly elections, set to take place later this year.
