Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Friday confirmed the party's preparedness for the impending state assembly elections set to occur in a few months.
Addressing the media, he disclosed that Union ministers Bhupender Yadav and Ashwini Vaishnaw had engaged in discussions with the BJP's 30-member core group on Thursday to strategize for the elections. These discussions are ongoing. The primary focus is on bolstering the party's grassroots presence, with no mention of Mahayuti allies like the Shiv Sena or Nationalist Congress Party.
Bawankule announced that around 5,300 delegates are expected at the BJP's state convention in Pune on Sunday, where key addresses will be given by Union ministers Nitin Gadkari and Amit Shah. Additionally, the party has initiated preparations for local polls and panchayat elections, aiming to secure all seats in the 288-member assembly.
Bawankule took a dig at the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi, claiming they would halt current welfare schemes if elected. He assured that the ruling Mahayuti alliance is focused on development and will decide on the Chief Minister's post at the right time.
