Leaders of the Samajwadi Party (SP) are expressing confidence in their role within the INDIA bloc as seat-sharing negotiations approach for the Maharashtra assembly elections. Fresh off their success in the Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha polls, SP officials insisted that their party should receive the respect and seats they deserve.
At an event on Friday honoring newly-elected SP MPs, the Maharashtra party unit officially kicked off their campaign for the October assembly elections. Bhiwandi East MLA Rais Shaikh criticized the BJP, Shiv Sena, and Congress-NCP for historically mistreating SP workers.
Shaikh also underscored the SP's fundamental role in the INDIA alliance, asserting that no alliance leader could dismiss party chief Akhilesh Yadav's calls. He assured that the SP would receive their just share of the seats, and mentioned ongoing seat-sharing discussions.
