Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will chair an all-party meeting on Thursday in the hill district to address ongoing search and rescue operations in landslide-affected areas.
State ministers, local MLAs, and political leaders are set to participate, with Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi also expected to visit relief camps established in the district.
According to updates, 167 people have died, and 191 remain missing due to the landslides, which have also injured over 200 individuals. Rescue teams from the army, navy, and coast guard are conducting searches at multiple locations, with a dog squad aiding the efforts.
A bailey bridge construction to connect the affected areas is underway, as shown in TV visuals. The landslides, triggered by torrential rains, have severely impacted Mundakkai, Chooralmala, Attamala, and Noolpuzha hamlets, causing significant loss of life.
