India has issued a stern advisory for its nationals residing in Bangladesh, urging them to exercise extreme caution and limit their movements following a recent spate of violence.
The advisory comes after reports from Dhaka confirmed the deaths of at least 90 people, including 14 policemen, in clashes between security forces and anti-government protesters demanding Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's resignation. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has advised against all travel to Bangladesh until further notice.
The initial student protests against a controversial job quota scheme have escalated into broader anti-government unrest. The MEA revealed that around 6,700 Indian students had returned from Bangladesh since the onset of the violence.
