Raj Thackeray, chief of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), raised questions about the effectiveness of caste-based reservations in government jobs on Monday, amid a surge in private sector employment opportunities.
During a media interaction in Pandharpur, Solapur, he emphasized the need to prioritize local candidates for job opportunities, irrespective of caste. Thackeray remarked, 'If the private sector continues to create jobs, we should consider how many people will actually benefit from reservations in government jobs.'
Addressing the ongoing agitation by Marathas for reservations in government jobs and education, Thackeray pointed out that Maharashtra, once a leader, is now entangled in caste politics. He also discussed his party's support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha polls, the BJP's negative narrative, and announced candidates for the upcoming assembly polls.
