Former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday accused the BJP of attempting to defame Rahul Gandhi. This allegation was made in light of a letter from Chittorgarh BJP MP CP Joshi to the Lok Sabha Speaker, where Joshi requested the cancellation of Gandhi's passport. Joshi had criticized Gandhi for making statements abroad he deemed inappropriate for a responsible Indian citizen.
Gehlot took to social media platform X to describe Joshi's letter as 'ridiculous and mischievous.' He argued that MP CP Joshi's request regarding Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi was not only baseless but also a deliberate misinterpretation. Gehlot contended that Gandhi’s comments about the Sikh community and the Dalit class in America were taken out of context by the BJP.
According to Gehlot, the BJP's actions are merely an unsuccessful attempt to tarnish Rahul Gandhi's reputation. He emphasized that Gandhi represents the voice of multiple sections of society, including youth, farmers, laborers, Dalits, and minorities, and that it is his responsibility to convey their sentiments globally.
